Naomi Makemie Presbyterian Church

A deep love for God and for Virginia's Eastern Shore

A creative and service-minded community, we live by a simple charge drawn from Micah 6:8: "Do what is fair and just to your neighbor, be compassionate and loyal in love, and don't take yourself too seriously — take God seriously."

Located in the heart of Onancock, VA, we are a Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) congregation with roots reaching back to 1883 and a present-day commitment to welcoming people into the life of faith and fellowship.

WORSHIP

Sundays at 11:00 a.m. | In person and online

Each Sunday, the congregation gathers in the sanctuary in Onancock to hear Scripture, pray together, sing, and listen for God’s Word in the middle of ordinary life.

The service is open to all.

A Faith Rooted in Place

Micah 6:8 asks us to be fair and just with our neighbors, and here that means actual neighbors. The people at the grocery store, the harbor, the school pickup line.

A CREATIVE COMMUNITY

This congregation doesn’t worship just one way. Our service moves between old hymns and gospel, organ, piano and guitars leading the room. At Pentecost, the fellowship room fills with paintings and photography made by our own members.

A CHURCH THAT HONORS QUESTIONS

Scripture matters here, but so does honesty about what's hard to believe some days. If you show up with questions instead of answers, you'll fit right in.
